Microsoft Lumia 950 crash test video [HD]

Microsoft DC 34 charging test. Charging 2 devices at the same time!

Do you want to see the most powerfull power bank from Microsoft? Check the DC 34!

This is 12 000 mAh charger which can charge two devices at the same time. Not only smartphones but also tablets. DC 34 uses a standard USB cables and ports, you don't need any additional cables and you may charge not only Lumia devices but any other device including iPhone or Samsung. So we in Battery Super Saver decided to check this double charger on Lumia 620 and 735 see the video test below:



 As you can see this is quite efficient in terms of 620, we have full charge after 1h 28 minutes. For second device 735 it took twice that time and we reached 100% after 3 hours. Maybe the reason was in the cable user in this test which is not oryginal DC 34 cable (orange one on the video).

What is important to highliht, DC-34 after the test was still 75% full and ready to charge another devices if needed. Moreover according to manufacturer claims that: "You’ll still have up to 80% capacity if you leave it in your bag for several months." To me it sounds believable. And what do you think?

How the wireless charging works on Lumia 950XL? [Video HD]

As we already know from the previous articles and tests new Microsoft Lumia 950XL has a great 3300 mAh battery performance and amazing fast charging USB type C feature. But as a developer of Battery Super Saver we have made a next test featuring next great innovation included in Lumia 950XL specification which is wireless charging.

Nokia was one of the first manufacturers delivering products with this feature included, before Samsung or Apple did it. Smartphones but also great accessories connected to that technology. The problem was that Nokia was not able to sale this feature with excitement to the clients like Apple is selling even a build in software flashlight. Now during the Lumia 950 and 950XL launch Microsoft announced also a wireless charger DT 904.

The Microsoft Wireless Charger DT 904 uses the Qi charging standard. This means it works with a wide range of devices and it can be powered by a USB port. If you pair Bluetooth Low Energy enabled Lumia with a DT 904, and when your battery is low, a soft light will ‘breathe’ from beneath the charging plate to remind you to power up. The notification light can also be set up to glow for missed calls and messages. Sounds very clever.

Charger uses Bluetooth 4.0 and has 5 charging rings. Charger input current is 2500 mA with voltage: 5 V DC. A basic set us is not using a fast charging option but still the charging time is quite good. See the test below:


What is important to highlight is the fact that 5.7″ screen was on all the time with the medium brightness. After first 30 minutes we reached  33% and after 2 hour 01 minutes we reached 100%, which is an amazing result if you bear in mind such a big screen and large 3300 mAh battery.

Lumia 950XL Fast Charging Test

Microsoft Lumia 950XL has a lost of amazing features like Continuum or 20MP Camera. But has also Wireless charging support and a USB Type-C port, which Microsoft promises will provide a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes.

As a developer of Battery Super Saver we decided if it works on our developer sample. You may see the result in the short video attached below. What is important to highlight is a fact that 5.7" screen was all the time on with the medium brightness.

We reached 50% after 36 minutes and 100% after 1 hour 39 minutes.

which is amazing result if you have in mind such big screen and 3300 mAh battery. In comparizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge with 3000 mAh battery need 35 minutes to charge to 50% and 2 hours to charge to 100%.

Battery life in Lumia 950XL

We are all excited by the latest Microsoft announcements about the new Lumia flagships. They looks great and have great specification but looking on Snapdragon 808 in 950 and Snapdragon 810, big screen, 3GB RAM, question about battery life consumption comes to our mind.

This is very important question if we take to the account that battery life is the most important feature of the device for 57% of Windows Phone users according to IDC. 

The good news is that both of these flagships devices will have removable battery which a massive number of users consider as must have when buying a phone. The second good news is that overall size of the battery is big 3000 mAh (950) or 3300 mAh (950XL) [but still less then in 1520 - 3400 mAh]. Lumia 950 and 950XL has also Wireless charging support and a USB Type-C port, which Microsoft promises will provide a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes.

Here is our test of this functionality: 

Simply: It works. And full charge of battery takes 1.5H in total which is great result.

The last and not least is the fact that we are able to optimize the battery consumption by using very modern applications like Battery Super Saver available exclusively on WP platform and working smoothly also on Lumia 950 with Windows 10, which was tested last week.
